Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how College Resume ("College Resume," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at college-resume.com, our test-prep programs, the résumé builder, the Auto Apply browser extension, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google (we never receive your Google password). During onboarding you may also provide your first name, your grade level (for example college, high school, or middle school), and your role (for example student, parent, teacher, or professional).

Test-prep information. To personalize your study plan we collect the details you enter into your prep profile — such as your test date, target score, sections you are taking, calculator familiarity, planned sleep window, and self-reported strengths, weaknesses, and test anxiety — along with the learning data you generate as you use the Service, including practice answers, scores, progress, time spent, and questions you ask our tutor.

Résumé and Auto Apply information. If you build or save a résumé, or use Auto Apply, we store the content you provide: your name, contact details, education, experience, and application preferences.

Payment information. Paid memberships are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe collects and handles your card details directly. We do not see or store your full card number; we retain only a Stripe customer identifier and your subscription status (for example trialing, active, or canceled).

Usage and device information. Like most websites, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect basic technical data such as your browser type, device, approximate location derived from your IP address, pages viewed, and referring links, and we keep a simple count of visits.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to operate and improve the Service: to create and secure your account, build and personalize your study plan, generate lessons and practice, estimate your readiness and predicted score, save and format your résumés, match you to scholarships you may qualify for, autofill applications you choose to open, process payments and manage your subscription, provide support, and communicate with you about your account, the Service, and the guarantee described in our Terms. We do not sell your personal information.

3. AI-powered features

Some features — such as tutor explanations, walkthroughs, and generated practice — are powered by third-party artificial-intelligence providers (for example Anthropic). When you use these features, the relevant content (such as the question and your answer) is sent to the provider to generate a response. We instruct our providers not to use your content to train their models. Please do not enter sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers or health details) into the tutor or chat features.

4. How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their function. These include Stripe (payments), Google (optional sign-in and, if enabled, analytics), our AI providers (tutoring and generation features), and our hosting provider (which stores your data). We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not share your data with scholarship sponsors or employers — applications are submitted by you, on their own sites.

5. The Auto Apply browser extension

The College Resume Auto Apply extension stores your profile locally in your browser and syncs it from your account when you are signed in on college-resume.com. It fills form fields only on pages where you explicitly invoke it ("Autofill this page"). It does not track your browsing, does not read pages in the background, and never submits a form on its own. The only remote requests it makes are to college-resume.com to sync your profile and membership status.

6. Study activity and the focus coach

What we record. While you are signed in and have one of our prep apps open (ACT, TEAS, SAT, HESI, or FCLE), your browser keeps a simple running count of the seconds you were active and the seconds you were idle, and sends that count to us about once a minute. For each study session we store your user ID, which exam app you were in, a short label for the part of the app you were using (for example "train" or "test"), when the session started, when we last heard from your browser, your total active seconds, your total idle seconds, and how many focus-coach nudges were shown.

What "idle" means. Idle simply means there was no mouse movement, key press, scroll, or touch for 60 seconds or more, or that the study tab was hidden or not in focus. We record only that a second counted as active or idle — nothing about what you did during it.

What we do not collect. We do not record the content of your keystrokes, your mouse coordinates, or anything you type outside of the answers you submit. We do not capture your screen, your camera, or your microphone. We do not track your browsing outside of the College Resume study pages — the counter runs only on those pages, only while you are signed in, and stops when you leave.

Why we collect it. To show you your own study time and progress, to power the focus coach described below, and so that administrators of your account can see how their students are doing and step in to help.

Who can see it. Administrators of the platform can view this activity for students on the account, including last login, whether a student is currently active, idle, or offline, study time and focus percentage over the last 7 and 30 days, per-course progress and accuracy, and a list of recent study sessions.

The focus coach. If you go idle for about 90 seconds in the middle of studying, a friendly on-screen prompt may appear asking whether you want to keep going, take a five-minute break, or stop for now. It is a study aid, not a test — you can dismiss it at any time with the Escape key or the buttons on the card, and dismissing it never affects your scores or progress. It appears at most once every five minutes, stops appearing after three unanswered prompts, never interrupts a break, shows only a quiet, non-animated message during timed and strict practice exams, plays no audio, and skips its animation entirely if your device is set to reduce motion.

How long we keep it. Study-activity records are kept for 180 days and are then deleted automatically. If you would like your study-activity records deleted sooner, email us at support@college-resume.com.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use a cookie to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. If analytics are enabled, providers such as Google Analytics may set their own cookies to help us understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling the sign-in cookie will prevent you from logging in.

8. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it (for example, billing records).

9. Your choices and rights

You can review and update your profile and delete saved résumés at any time from your dashboard. You can cancel a paid membership at any time; access continues until the end of your current paid period. To access, correct, export, or delete your account and associated personal information, contact us at support@college-resume.com and we will honor applicable requests. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

10. Children's privacy

Our test-prep programs are designed to be used by students, including those under 18. If you are under 18, you should use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to our Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information without such consent, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption of passwords and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to promptly address any issues.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
